and they're turning us into monsters turning us into fire it felt like something was missing. teddy, his head propped up on his fist, elbow in front of him, stared vacantly out the cold, stone window of the gryffindor common room. behind him, the area lay in what could only be described in the closest thing to ruins. things still stood, the beds were still good for sleeping in, though some were no longer bunk-beds and some of the blankets looked to be once on fire, but the walls looked to be stripped bare of the glory and beauty that teddy could only dream about, that he could only fantasize his mother and his father and his grandparents and his cousin lived in, the glory that pulsed around them as they stood, though not together, in this, a once awesome and respected house common room. it was, teddy immediately admitted when he stepped into the room, a complete wreck, but the metamorphmagus vowed never to treat it as such. he knew that people before teddy's own time respected those in gryffindor and lead up to be some of the most heroic, wonderful people the wizarding world ever knew. before he moved to the window, teddy kicked some cloth, moved some rock, and then sat on the sheets of the bed that his godfather, his father, his grandfather, that they all sat on, and perhaps in the same slouched-over position that teddy was in at the time. the overwhelming train ride over was enough to drive the metamorphmagus insane; purebloods laughing in that haughty, rich way that they all seem to do, messing about and being all high and mighty like they all think they are, while half-blood teddy lupin sat in a locked car with another girl, and they both kept to themselves. both the girl, and teddy stared out the window at the vanishing trees and the long prairie grasses that flowed like an ocean and occasionally jumped when someone knocked on the glass door to make faces at both of them or do make a rude gesture or something. but teddy guessed that by now they were both used to it, the red-haired girl and the metamorphmagus, so different from the many fair-haired and normal looking, unchanging purebloods that one could puke at the thought of it.
the sun peeled itself away from sight as the boy's eyes flickered with color, changing from red to purple to blue with some flex of his upper cheekbones, looking like he was making faces at the sunset. it had become a habit of teddy's to do when he's not doing anything else, sort of practice, but his grandmother told him that if he kept doing that, that they would continuously change and never stop switching to all the colors of the rainbow. of course, being twelve, teddy totally disagreed with her, but there was something that itched the back of his stomach that told him she was right. because she was usually right. behind teddy there was a slight thud and the cracking of glass, but he ignored it and kept staring at the dissolving sun, puking colors across the sky, leaving chunks of stars at the far end of the beautiful mess. he could barely see the weeping willow from the window, it's branches looking exhausted and old, the old shack where a half-giant used to live a bit farther from the willow, only a few feet of the base remained on the grass, which had twisted around it as if hogwarts missed its too-kind of a groundskeeper, one he had only heard about, yet never seen. the stories about teddy's miraculous grandfather that wafted around the campus like the scents from the great hall's feast were remarkable and completely fake, but Hagrid was almost always included in them, how he was scary and huge and some about how he kept big monsters for pets and named them, people, creatures, things teddy could only dream about meeting and conversing with, they were so far away, and yet the felt all so close.
another small crash was heard behind the boy, and, sighing, he turned around, stopping the faces he was making to change the color of his eyes. with slow, uninterested movements, he pulled his fist away from his chin and flopped the rest of his appendage down to hang off the stone ledge, and he moved his turquoise head, along with his robed body, around to face the entrance that was littered with small shards of glass and remains of the items that used to be on the wall. his, now purple, optics reached where he had heard the noises and he slightly narrowed his eyes in whoever's direction was making all the racket, but when the metamorphmagus saw that no one was there, he scowled and then resumed the position he was originally in, though more slumped than he used to be. teddy wished he could have some company that wouldn't judge him for his abilities.
navy purple pink white then he closed his eyes and sighed.

♦THIS IS THE SEASON TO LEARN ♦ ♦ HOW MUCH WE CAN ACTUALLY LOVE ♦ It was one of those days, where the school was beginning to show that Hogwarts was preparing to be pretty much empty for the summer. Kids were getting a bit more antsy in class, their attention drawn outdoors, while they were in the room. Lately though, she'd been taking them outside, letting them inhale, enjoy the fresh air. It was always nice to feel the breeze when it got a bit too hot under a cloak, which was why there was magic, but she had been told, that never to rely on magic for everything. Or else - what would you know, besides spells? She'd prefer to go ahead and just know how to do things without the need of magic, even if it did require it, she preferred to only use magic when it was absolutely needed. Magic was a thing people - she liked to think - were blessed with. Some shouldn't have it, but they did, which was why the world was in the state it was in right now. Now - at least the wizarding world - was in mild chaos. Just years ago, it was nice, peaceful. Course, she had been hired because of her blood status, her parents and also because of her views.
Purebloods this, purebloods that. Halfbreeds and impurities die, rot in hell, all the other excuses purebloods used to treat others like dirt. In her mind, she did think purebloods were superior to others, but she wasn't outspoken about it, and was objective about it when it came to the students. Otherwise, adults, she tended to distance herself from people who might harm her teacher position, a position she planned on keeping for decades. It was a nice job, educating the younger generations, even if they were mostly spoiled-rotten purebloods, she was still spreading knowledge to others, and that was good enough for her. As she thought about this, the pen and papers kept grading themselves, while her hand absent-mindedly stroked the wolf-husky mutt beneath her desk, and she mused, brushing back her golden hair, "How about a walk, Major?" The large dog, easily at least three feet at the shoulder looked up to her silently, brown eyes expecting something it seemed.
"Oh, want your dinner?" she laughed lightly, throwing on her cloak over her white top, vest, black slacks. Blue eyes narrowed slightly, while her wand floated to her outstretched hand. Flicking it, Major's food bowl soon was filled by a bag. The furry animal bristled happily, before he looked up as Yuna, the owl swooped in, looking curiously about. Bobbing her head slightly, the owl clicked her beak towards the blonde, who checked over students' papers, then tucked them away for later use. "You already ate, Yuna." she scratched the owl on her head, before tucking her wand into her cloak pocket, then patted her thigh, "C'mon Major," she encouraged him. The dog eagerly got up, followed her down the stairs from her office to her class, then through the halls.
Suddenly, the dog tensed, and bared his fangs, growling. Muscles went rigid, as the Transfiguration teacher frowned, then immediately, within one swift movement, replacing the blonde was a black panther. It slinked along, the dog unaffected by it, though soon, a black cloaked figure leapt from the Gryffindor area. Growling, the feline pounced after the student, though the pupil vanished, and without being able to use very much magic in this form, the blonde growled angerily, as the dog licked her softly, as if in apology. Quickly, shifting back, feeling her muscles realign, bones creak as they moved, she stretched. Muttering angerily under her breath, heels clicking on the floor, she quickly headed to the common room, uttering the password.
The entrance was partially how it had been just back when she was a student here in Slytherin. Gryffindor was not even close to what it had been years ago, now - it seemed to be in ruins. The students who were gone had attempted - it appeared to aid in the restoration of this place. Major, the dog pranced in, nose to the ground, as he whined playfully, while the teacher flicked her wand about, pink lips sealed as she fixed it up somewhat. As she noticed her mixed-dog head up the beds, she frowned just as she opened the silent door, to see a student - or so it appeared, with suddenly changing colored hair.
Stunned, she remained silent for a moment. This was the second time she'd ever seen a natural metamorphmagus. The first had been in the Ministry of Magic years ago. Major, unable to help himself it seemed, whined playfully, tail wagging as he approached the young boy. Stepping in, the Professor inquired, voice smooth, tucking away her wand once more, "I'm sorry to bother you, I wanted to make sure no one was harmed, appearantly someone would find it funny to break in." Seeing the shards, she sighed, flicked her wand, as the shards of the shattered object floated in the air, and fixed themselves, before hanging back on the wall. Approaching the bed, almost uncomfortably, she mentioned, while Major nosed the boy curiously, "He won't harm you," knowing some younger students who were newer to her class haven't met her dog yet.

please don't spoil my day i'm miles away from when teddy heard the gentle crunching of the class to back when he looked out the window, there seemed to be no doubt in his mind that he was alone in the part of the school where no one wanted to be. his insides crunched with the urge to get up and leave, but something told him to stay put, lest he get company, though his stomach didn't tell him what kind of company he would get. the metamorphmagus's closed eyes flashed open as a gentle voice lightly tapped him on the shoulder, the words from the woman weren't received probably not as well as she might've hoped, all teddy assumed was that she had randomly appeared. though her voice was gentle it still made the boy jump about a foot, no doubt because of his awful run-ins with being scared by people who knew how to scare rather well, though he hated to admit it. teddy was never light on his feet, and never really had the chance to scare someone even when he didn't really mean to scare them in the first place. his steps were too heavy and he moved a lot and he breathed too loud, this is what grandma told him when he was younger about trying to scare people. after that he tried all day to surprise her but he could never actually make her jump. she claimed she had eyes in the back of her head, but teddy knew better and assumed either that she knew it was coming, or she actually did have eyes underneath that orange hair. the boy, after his tired eyes seemed to lead his head around to face the woman, first spotted her and then the dog, rather close, a bit scary looking. he swallowed a yelp that tried to spurt out from his throat and quickly backed himself up against the wall, seeing the woman out of the corner of his eye moving to sit on the bed beside his trunk. his black shoes clomped against the fabric on the large suitcase as he raised his bottom to sit on the stone ledge of the window, his shoulders close to his neck, eyes flashing to purple without meaning to. he felt the dog's nose on his pant leg and twitched, guessing from her blond hair that she was a pureblood and that this dog would rip him apart as soon as he figured it out. he swallowed again and inched back a little more onto the ledge when the woman spoke again, this time her words actually got to teddy and he looked over to her with a rather unnecessarily panicked face. he didn't really realize he was making it. teddy mixed a smile in there and then turned his face back to the dog, slowly sliding himself back down onto the top of his trunk. the smile faded the farther down he went, more to a rounding of his lips in suspense to see what the canine's reaction would be. when the metamorphmagus was back, safe and unharmed, onto his trunk as he previously was, he let out a gust of wind through is open mouth and let out a nervous laugh, and " won't harm me...yeah...okay," came in some sort of relieved, yet tense, whisper. his violet eyes flickered towards the blond woman and he gave her a thanking smile before slowly raising his hand to lightly pat the top of the dog's head. "nice doggy," he breathed.
once more, the boy swallowed and shrugged off the flakes of fear that were still left on his shoulders, placing his hands on his knees and looking over to the girl, sitting uncomfortably on the bed. "right," he started, smirking warmly and holding out his hand for her to shake, "'m teddy." he nodded his head and raised his eyebrows, refraining from saying his last name in case she knew of his family, which was still very unlikely. and even if she did know of his father or grandparents, it didn't look to the metamorphmagus that she would really actually care. the woman had already seen his outrageous hair color, she had seen it being changed, and she had also witnessed his shifting eye-color and how comfortable he was in the gryffindor common room, also seeming like she was fine with him being in the house all together. that being thought through, teddy dared to assume that she was one of those pureblood looking people that either wasn't actually a pureblood, or wasn't as mean as most of them are to people who are different. i mean, this was fine with teddy. he liked people who were nice and dared to go against what had now transformed to be something of "the law of the land," especially when you're a cocky twelve-year-old who can stand up for himself perfectly well but still can't fight worth crap.
ted ignored his heartbeat as it began to race with the thought that he was wrong for assuming that she was someone like this. don't judge a book by it's over also has a deadly meaning in teddy's life he supposed, and in his case, this was very dangerous. as his hand remained in the air, it shook slightly, though is face showed no sign of fear.
what would she do?

♦THIS IS THE SEASON TO LEARN ♦ ♦ HOW MUCH WE CAN ACTUALLY LOVE ♦ Watching the dog sniff the young student, she snapped her fingers at him, though the dog didn't respond. Instead, Major continued to playfully nose the student, whining towards him, wanting him to play. He'd learned, usually students would play with him, while the blonde would usually just throw a ball for him to go get. Wriggling with excitement, the three-year-old dog slapped the ground with his front paws, rump in the air, tail wagging. Noticing this, Professor Penn sighed and then suddenly, a bouncy ball, though decently large, but small enough Major could fit it in his mouth floated in. Tossing it up, Penn offered it to him, "Throw the ball, and he'll be your best friend." she smiled reassuringly towards the boy, before Major noticed the ball, and with his tongue lolling out, he barked, startling the blonde. "Hush yourself." she stated, and the dog obediently obeyed, though he turned back to the boy, with a doggie grin on his face.
The boy crawled away from the dog, and when he did, Eleanor tossed the ball, and bounced it, getting Major's attention. He trotted up to her, wriggling with excitement, before she tossed it to the edge of the room, where it bounced back off the wall. The dog leapt up and managed to catch it. Head shook vigorously, showing the natural instinct to shake things that he wanted dead. Hoping that didn't scare the student too much anymore, she hoped she hadn't as well. Major padded back to the boy, ball in his mouth, and he sneezed. The Professor shifted, watching as he seemed to calm down after her words that Major wouldn't harm him. If his eyes had been a different color, she wouldn't have noticed really, that his eyes had flashed to purple. Interesting - she'd always found it amusing, more or less, interesting how metamorphagi could change their appearance at will. He was younger though, so that may be why he seemed to only be able to shift his eye and hair color.
Spotting the trunk, she inquired, "Packing up to leave?" she smiled, sitting on the bed by his trunk, though giving him enough space so she wouldn't scare him. Reaching out, a calm hand brushed Major's flank, who whined lightly, as if asking one of them to throw the ball for him. As the boy petted the top of Major's head, the husky-wolf mix wiggled happily, tail wagging back and forth, back and forth a hundred miles a minute. Laughing lightly, the blonde reached for the ball, and tossed it over her shoulder, while Major's large mass flung itself after the ball, eyes set on capturing it in his mouth once more. Her attention snapped back to the student when he spoke once more, and giving her his name. Teddy - that was it. Course she would have liked a last name, but she didn't have him in class she presumed. She would most definitely remember him - his hair would have probably given him away, but students' faces were usually easy to remember, especially if you had them to meet their requirements, which was at least three or four years of Transfiguration.
"Pleasure, Teddy." she smiled, and her right hand met his in a light, but formal shake. Shifting softly when Major reappeared, nudging the boy with his muzzle once more, the blonde added, "I'm Penn, Professor Penn." she gave a soft nod, to reassure him she really wasn't here to usher him out or anything. But her hopes were that he would soon be leaving, or face the wrath of another teacher, who wouldn't be as forgiving as she always was with her students. Outside of her classroom, anyway. Upon reading his face, it suddenly hit her - he was afraid. Afraid of what - though? Was it her or Major? Worried for his well-being, she immediately mused, "I'm not going to harass you, Teddy...I'm here mainly out of concern." she added, gesturing back to where the glass object had been shattered by another student who had ran.
Offering a gentle smile, the blonde added, "And to make sure everyone leaves, before they start to, we say, close it up for the summer break. Unless you're staying...?" Penn arched an eyebrow, curious, while glancing to Major, seeing if....Teddy had taken the ball. Teddy...what. She would like to know his last name, but maybe she could dig, or ask around and see. She'd rather not ask him, but then again - oh well. Thinking of something, Penn realized she'd revealed two things to Teddy upon introducing herself like that, she was a pureblood, and a teacher. But another, she didn't care much about students and what they were or who they were. They were all equal to her, which was why if she spotted anything going on in her class, she'd step in to help. Penn eyed Teddy softly, curious to what he had to say, meanwhile, letting him leave or go off somewhere if he so wished.

so long ago was it just a dream? the light grasp of professor penn made teddy's smile a bit wider, and he held himself back from giving a tighter, friendlier handshake like he normally would. the woman looked like a professor should, teddy mused to himself. she was sophisticated, smart, kind, and seemed to have worry underneath those deep, blue eyes of hers. he put his hand next to his thigh, pushing down on the trunk slightly, though he still watched her talk. professor penn looked like she was analyzing teddy, like she though there was some sort of secret behind his eyes, fading to pink and then back to a dark blue that somewhat matched the professor's. the absent-minded changing would probably embarrass him if he knew it was happening, but because you can't really see your eyes without a mirror it didn't really seem to bother teddy at all that when he focused on someone's eyes he accidentally changes them to match, an invisible habit that most likely wouldn't go away unless he actually tried. it wasn't something to really try that hard to accomplish anyway. when professor penn added the words to her own introduction, rather quickly as teddy's ears recognized, he almost laughed, though there wasn't any reason why. the sinking grin on his face widened as soon as she said 'not going to harass you,' and he moved his head back to where his optics could rest on his black-jeaned knees. another war had been won in his stomach, the positive teddy versus the negative teddy. he always liked it when his positive side won, but there wasn't really many of those times. the boy was always so uncertain and in his head were thoughts of abuse and fear, but none of it ever showed on his outside. he was just a paranoid little kid in a world who hates who he is, and there will probably never be a time where teddy can stand up and say that lord voldemort is a big huge meanie face and that all those snobby, smelly purebloods can suck it. well, maybe on his deathbed.
as teddy looked back up to professor penn, he saw the quick motion of her head to the broken glass in the corner of the room, something he hadn't noticed among the rest of the tattered walls. it seemed rather insignificant, but the shatter was probably heard down the desolate and echo-y hallways that lead up to the common room. teddy probably walked in just right after more of the mess was added to the room, and teddy just didn't notice it mixed in with everything else. "Unless you're staying...?" his cerulean eyes clicked back to the professor with eyebrows that were clenched together. he hadn't been listening, but the question was an easy one to answer so the words he missed might not have been as important as teddy assumed. "oh, no ma'am," he started, lifting up one of his legs to put his shoe underneath his other thigh, "i'm definitely leaving." the last part of his sentence was thrown in with a light, slightly relieved chuckle and a shake of his head, his lips forming the words lightly as they were, again, stitched tight in that playful smirk of his. he slid his head back to his knees, and then focused his sight onto the dirty, cluttered carpet. " i didn't mean that to sound rude or anything, it's just.." he paused and took a breath inward, looking for the right words to finish the sentence off without sounding any ruder than he already was. it's just what, teddy? all truth be told, teddy wasn't really that excited to go back home. he was very excited to see his grandmother again, but that feeling of delight and that strong hug that he would be greeted with when he walked through the door wouldn't last the whole summer. he knew that he would get bored and start to wander around the neighborhood, and would, no doubt, be found by those stupid pureblood bullies who might actually try to turn him into something now that they know some magic after living without it for eleven years. teddy closed his eyes and inhaled a sweet air that pushed itself into an open window, the atmosphere of the night feeling more calm than ever knowing that he would be sent home within what teddy assumed would be a matter of days. he brought out the air from his lungs with a shaking feeling, and then he looked back up to the professor with an unfeeling expression. "..the stress i guess. it gets to you these first years, doesn't it?" he threw in a quiet, fake laugh and then let his eyes wander around her face before they split off to behind her, and then to her side. he felt around for the dog, and as soon as he touched his skin to the dog's fur he moved his body to face the canine, looking at it's strength and envying its simple lifestyle. his eyes turned the same shade of yellow as the dog's.
he, again, forced another small smile. " it'll be better next year, i can feel it." but it's a sin to lie, isn't it?.

♦THIS IS THE SEASON TO LEARN ♦ ♦ HOW MUCH WE CAN ACTUALLY LOVE ♦ The Professor watched the young pupil silently, scanning his hair with interest. She'd attempted to try and do something to her lighter hair, though most potions wore off after awhile, if she were like him, a metamorphagus, then she could do it as long as she wanted. Eleanor tilted her head, watching Major who noticed that neither the boy nor she would throw the ball, and he lied down, dropping the ball between his two front legs, and nosed it around between his front legs. His life was simple, just go where she went, Yuna flew there, but Major usually was apparated with her. Petting his smooth, thick fur, Eleanor's attention snapped to Teddy when he spoke. Course, him being what he was, she was a tad afraid for him. If someone should try and pick on him and she heard about it, she'd have to make sure someone got their cards sorted out correctly.
Lips pursed slightly at the thought of someone harming another student, merely because of their blood. Though - that was the way it was now. You were either a pureblood, or dirt. No other options, the only reason she was a teacher was because, well first, she was a pureblood, and second she was well-qualified. If another person came along, and was a bit older, more "skilled" than her in her field, and a pureblood, she'd lose her job. But if they weren't a pureblood with her heritage, she'd keep it. The world had changed, and with it, so did many people. Her being - hopefully - not one of them. Granted, she did think purebloods were superior, but only in adults, yes, her logic was flawed in some ways, but their children shouldn't be subjected to the childish ways of the adults of the wizarding world now.
Teddy mentioned about leaving, and an eyebrow arched slightly, though no thoughts were voiced aloud. Students were all on the same playing field, but some - like Alice - she nurtured a bit more, much like Audrey and her sisters, now she had Brianna, she remembered people well, especially her students. Grinning softly towards him, she replied, "Then enjoy your summer break, Teddy." she stated simply. Professor Penn noticed his eyes change to match her's, a - more or less intense - blue. Smiling weakly when she noticed this, she didn't say anything, for not wanting to hurt his feelings, or offend him in someway. She was sure he got enough of that already from Slytherins. Glancing casually around the common room, she frowned lightly, and flicked her wand. Soon, things began to pick themselves up, and clean themselves. Letting the sounds of the room getting picked up, Eleanor watched everything, the wallpaper reapplying itself, and she paused, once it looked twice as better as it had before. It wasn't as it had been before the war, but it looked decent now.
"There, a treat for you and the other Gryffindors." she winked, tucking her wand away, while Major looked up, perplexed, then barked once. "Hush, Major." he silently did, while nudging her leg with his nose in an apology. Hearing Teddy speak, she looked to him, and his excuse. Half-tempted to say something, Eleanor decided against it, figuring he must have to be at least a first or second year. Hearing him comment on stress, she mused, running a hand lazily through her hair, "Stress will never really leave you when you're a student in Hogwarts." The animagus paused, as if internally debating about something. She was. She was beginning to offer after-class help sessions with Professor Selkirk maybe, on Transfiguration and History of Magic. Without further hesitation, she replied, "I'm offering after class help next term, Teddy, if you want, you can come. It's for Transfiguration, my class, then maybe History of Magic."

and your bird can swing but you can't hear me the boy, in response to hearing the movement of cloth and the scraping of glass, looked up to see things putting themselves back together. the glass pictures that were knocked off the walls re-assembling themselves neatly and quietly as if the items themselves were pleased to do it for the gryffindor students. the bed sheets and the comforters straightened themselves on the beds and the rips and tears of the carpet and the drapes on the wall across from the couple looked as if they were sewing themselves back together without a single sound or mistake. teddy's eyes widened slightly with amazement, and then gave a yellow glance over to professor penn who was holding her wand, the movements of the stick bumping to the rhythm of the stitching, the gluing, the tidying-up of the common room. the metamorphmagus smiled at the professor, and then watched her hand as it twisted and flicked, ordering all the pieces to come together. her kindness was remarkable, teddy noticed, and this wasn't counting the fact that she hadn't once asked him about his hair or why his eyes were like they were. any other teacher in their right mind wouldn't think of tidying up the gryffindor's common room or any gryffindor room for that matter. she could've just left it as it was, and teddy would probably have cleaned up something or tried to make something explode, but professor penn was different, the boy guessed as she tucked her wand away. the boy surveyed the slightly cleaned up room and smiled, the wallpaper looked almost like it had never been torn away, everything was so much better looking. teddy gave one whisper of a laugh, more of forced out air through a smile, and then briefly looked to the professor, "hey, thanks a lot..." before turning his now fuchsia eyes back to the room with some mixture of amazement and envy of her magical talent, "it looks really-" and then was interrupted by the voice of the canine, who was shushed by the professor. teddy smiled at him and leaned forward to pet his strong, gray back, but was unable to without having to get up off of his trunk first. the boy did so, kind of in a sliding way, and instead of standing up and walking over to the dog, teddy tell on all fours and crawled over to the beast, sitting by it's great hairy legs.
as his peach fingers mixed in with the dog's fur, there was a shudder of warmth through teddy's fingers. he had always wanted a dog, but grandma never really wanted to take care of it while he was away, even though they both knew she desperately needed the company. teddy knew she'd take care of it, even though she claimed she didn't want to. she always did things like that, like when teddy had someone come over to the house for lunch, she would take him aside and complain about it, but she wore a smile around the other kid like there was no problem at all. once andromeda had made the excuse that it was a grandmother's job to always be smiling and take care of everyone who needed it, and she always had, and teddy knew that she liked to smile and to get to know people, but there was always something behind her eyes that was some sort of wispy, foggy sadness that would assemble itself in tears every now and then. she needed someone, even the purebloods, with all their blind stupidity to those in need, could probably tell that she needed company, friends, someone who would always be there for her, and teddy knew that he wouldn't always be there for her when she needed him. maybe he'll take one home from the streets someday. once they got past the yelling and the arguing, grandma was sure to enjoy the dog.
professor penn's words came out of the blue, and he looked up, having been preoccupied within his own worries then the world around him. after class help next term... for transfiguration? teddy smiled at her and then rested his teal hair on the side of the dog, rubbing the canine's shoulder with his hand. his gray eyes looked down at the teacher's shoes, "for transfiguration huh?" he blinked, though his eyes had closed, and then gave another small laugh before his next words, "sure, i'll probably need it anyway."
but from the edge of his eyes there was a great, black figure that swept itself past the gryffindor window. immediately after seeing this, teddy sat up and took his head away from the dog, turning his body more towards the window before heaving himself upwards using his heavy trunk to pull him to a standing position. he narrowed his green eyes before leaning against the suitcase with his knees to look out the window. "what the heck was that?" his words came in an audible tone, but they were still in a surprised, confused whisper. the creature looked almost like some sort of crow, but if it was a crow it was a gigantic one. he looked to the professor and then moved away from her a little bit so she could look out the window herself if she wanted to. without meaning to, he asked the question that was already answered in his head, though, he still wasn't sure.
"that wasn't some sort of crow, was it?" black irises shrunk underneath squinting eyelids.

♦THIS IS THE SEASON TO LEARN ♦ ♦ HOW MUCH WE CAN ACTUALLY LOVE ♦ Witnessing Teddy's face when she had fixed up the common room quite a bit, made a small smile crawl along her pink lips. It was always pleasing - to her at least - to see the shock on a student's face when a teacher was actually nicer outside of a class room. Most of the other ones were always harsh and stern. She believed that should be held only in her class, not outside of it, out in the real world. As her wand was stashed, calm eyes surveyed the room in silent approval of her own work. One hand brushed aside a blonde lock, as the wallpaper finished itself, and the fire seemed to burn even brighter now, now that most of the room was clean. Knowing the Gryffindors would get a good shock when they returned, Eleanor grinned softly, "Our little secret, hmm?" she winked, "Let your fellow Gryffindors get a little treat when they return this fall." Turning as the pupil spoke, then broke off after a moment, the Professor nodded softly, and watched as he crawled to Major.
The dog, having been lying down, whined playfully, and nosed the boy when he got closer. Someone to play with! Thrilled, the wolf-dog mix lapped at the boy's face, tail thumping against the wooden floor a hundred miles a minute. Professor Penn shifted softly, watching Major interact with the boy. Smiling softly, she mused, "If you ever have time, you can come visit him. He always enjoys a good run." she offered, watching the boy's face as Major calmed himself down, allowing the boy to pet him. Belly was revealed showing his trust to the student, paws in the air, silently begging him to rub his furry belly. Once though, he rested his head on him, Major immediately froze, though softly, not wanting to frighten the boy away. He could have a calmer demeanor, if he wanted, Eleanor thought silently to herself. The dog was still just a bit of a puppy, and therefore wouldn't calm down for about another two years.
She'd raised him from a pup, having gotten him when he was just about 4 months old. The two had warmed up to each other, Eleanor wanting some extra company in her mansion besides Yuna and the maid, and horses. Someone to warm the bed before she got in, and always be there to greet her when she entered her office, class or her house. Grinning, the thoughts drifted. Major was a good dog, obedient, and gentle around the kids, though he could be a bit wild sometimes with the older ones. Only if they teased him though, and he enjoyed playing - a lot. Or running, either way, he did have energy, that he usually liked to burn through before the end of the day. Otherwise, he would be up all night, keeping her from getting her rest, and probably even keeping others up.
Suddenly, a growl from Major broke her thoughts, thinking it was towards Teddy. It wasn't, the dog was faced towards the window, his hackles raised, and lips curled up into a harsh snarl. Standing slowly, Eleanor jumped when a black figure flew by the window. Scowling, she approached it, and silently motioned for Teddy to stay back while her wand came out, as she whispered, "Probably some Slytherins." she growled, before producing her wand, as Major stood up, careful of Teddy, and snarled, a wild animal towards the window. Eleanor smirked, and looked to Teddy at his inquiry, she nodded solemnly, eyes scouring the sky, "Most likely...but Major....usually doesn't care about crows." Major's hackles were still on end, as he bared his teeth towards the window. Giving up, Professor Penn uttered an encantation, and a burst of light erupted from her wand, and it covered the window.
The light, like jell-o spread, and soon faded. Smirking, she mused, "Anything that flies by that window, will get a nasty shock." Major ceased his incessant growl, though his hackles were still up. Shushing him, Eleanor whispered, "It's all right, Major, they can't get in, it's re-inforced now too." she winked, then looked to Teddy, and nodded solemnly, "You should be fine now, Teddy."
