---------------- riddler, riddler, tell my why THE -- BIRDS -- FLY -- FREE -- ON -- A -- MACKERAL -- SKY !? Crossing his spine in a perpendicular manner, a slight shiver escalated until it was a full fledged shudder. Though summer was nearing, mother earth bathing in the sun's bountiful rays, during the evenings it was still quite brisk, chilly even, up atop the tallest parts of Hogwarts castle. Casting a look backwards, Nicodemus scoured the hallway for any who would have wished to follow him. At times, the boy wished to be alone, to be where none would easily find him. This was one of those times. He would not tolerate a person following him. Finding no evidence of pursuit, the Slytherin continued onward, towards the towers. Toward solitude.
Carefully sliding his hand upwards on the cold, almost wet, metal pole Nicodemus looked up towards the darkness that was soon to envelope him. With a wand in hand, and a spell muttered, light was procured however and the Slytherin found that he could see beyond his feet. Nicodemus nearly slipped once or twice, the rains from a spring storm having invaded the open-windowed tower and spread across the stone floor. Wincing, Nick knew that the teacher would not be happy to find his classroom looking as if somebody had decided to dump a bucket or two full of water in it.
He crossed the open room, peering out of the window. A silver moon hung in the sky like a sentimental ornament. Slipping onto the window sill, Nick stared out the open window. The air still smelled thick with rain, clouds sailing past the moon looking like purged bulimics. They'd gorge once more, in this rainy season, then purge again and again over the Scottish countryside. Nicodemus didn't mind the rain so much, though it did make Quidditch a hard game to play. Nick preferred to play in the dry, hotter season than the wet one that spring provided.
Twirling his wand between his long fingers, Nicodemus allowed himself to wander in his thoughts. His sister was safe, fine, back in the dormitories. Nobody would harm her, or make fun of her, there. They all knew that Nicodemus would have none of it- he'd bashed heads together before, and no matter what the price was, he'd do it again to get his point across. Nicodemus did fairly well with a wand, neither worst nor best in duels but simply mediocre, however physical fights were a different story. Nobody wanted to cross him for that reason alone, and they knew the only reason he'd come after a person was if they'd done something to his sister.

LIBRA LEFERRE if you can't wait any longer it's your faith that makes you stronger the only way that we get there is one step at a time ------------ Silence was a thing she rarely got. Ever since her parents had been killed by an infamous Death Eater, family members from her adopted parents had swarmed, worried to death. Now - in Hogwarts, things seemed partially back to normal. Her aunt was living with her till she moved out, and as the clouds lightened, revealing they'd finish their purging of the heavy H2O, and settled into their usual slumber till they awoke again with the need to lighten themselves. Features contorted to cast a soft shadow on the young woman's features, eyes a now lighter hue, instead of their usual light brown, like chocolate. Shoes fell silently on the hard stone floor, listening to the different sounds of the peace and quiet. Tilting her cranium softly, she uttered an encantation, with a slight French acccent in a whisper, and light fell from her wand like water.
It rippled along the walls as she ascended towards the towers. This was where a class was. She took it once as a first-year, but didn't really need it afterwards, therefore, didn't ever again. Lips pursed in a slight smirk, dark mind reeled immediately. Wand moved through her fingers carefully, before hood was produced from the black cloak, concealing the softly curled brown locks. The hood remained there for a few moments, before a soft hand quickly pulled it off as it then pressed against the hard wood of the classroom door. The wooden door gave way with a slight creak, and the figure winced. The student twirled her wand as the light bounced off the water on the ground. Frowning softly, the wand flicked, and the water parted as she walked, in about a foot diameter so her shoes didn't get wet.
Though, the moment her eyes landed on a fellow seventh-year, her heart hammered. Nicodemus Zwolft. He and his sister were famous, or infamous. If you said something about his younger sister she'd heard, he'd probably bound you into a pulp. Tempted to try this, she has been reined in by her friends in Slytherin, despite her power with the Dark Arts, she hadn't been allowed to do much with it. Tilting her head, she just hoped her blonde roots would come in. If at all. It was bad enough looking like a muggleborn, she wanted the light hair, not this...bloody brown. Restraining a hiss under her breath, her chin jutted out slightly in defiance. Seeing him, she remained silent - was he cute? No, handsome in her books, but would she ever admit that? Hell no.
Thinking of this brought a slight blush to her cheeks, though she quickly snuffed out the light her wand was producing when he most likely saw her. "Didn't know anyone else was up here..." she muttered. They had known each other since they first came here. She personally thought of him as a decent friend, and she hoped he thought the same at least. Especially since they were in the same house, year and shared all but one of their classes together. Tilting her head softly, she smirked playfully, like a cat about to toy with its mouse, "Don't need to bash anyone's head in?" she inquired, curious, but most of all, just wanting to see some stuff. "Oh, I'm sorry...where are my manners," she purred, her French accent coming through, "Hello, Nicodemus." She could get away with calling him that, and he could get away with calling her Libra Phoenix if he so wished.

---------------- riddler, riddler, tell my why THE -- BIRDS -- FLY -- FREE -- ON -- A -- MACKERAL -- SKY !? Nicodemus shifted his weight backwards, flipping his feet up onto the window sill. They were bent upwards at a rather sharp angle, though loose so that his chest wouldn't bang into them as he breathed. Savory air blew right into his face, the boy's eyes shut while he took in the glorious moment. Silence. Peace. It was all here, all wrapped into one. What a delicate masterpiece it was, and how beautiful! Though the young Slytherin knew it wouldn't last long, he also could not help but be vexed at she who broke through his sanctuary of solitude.
Snapping open, the blue-grey eyes that belonged to Nicodemus rested on the source of the woman's voice in an instant. His lips pursed, a look crossing his face that clearly stated he was both annoyed and uncomfortable with the situation at hand. Yes, he had all of his classes with her this year, however they had been given little interaction before. In the Common Room and Great Hall during meal times Nicodemus had shown off his little talents and made himself known to near everybody, so an awkward relationship was bound to be borne from it. She regarded him as a good friend, though Nicodemus didn't know her all that well. In any case, she wasn't that bad of a person and he knew full well that it wasn't right to alienate somebody just because he was annoyed by her having walked into his little bit of quiet time.
"'ello, Leferre." He chose to use her last name, keeping his tone indifferent. Nicodemus' features were now smoothed out, to keep from giving away any real emotion. The annoyance that was once shown so openly had been tucked into the back of his mind, to be used at a later date on a person who truly deserved it. Swiftly swinging his legs over, Nicodemus sat with his long, lower extremities hanging from the ledge that his rear was rested on. They crossed at the ankles slightly. His arms were placed straight down at either side, palms pressed against the smooth cement-like rock and fingers gripping the ledge. Nicodemus was slightly hunched over. His posture instructor would have had a fit.
"No problem, it's nice to have company anyway." His tone was, again, indifferent. This wasn't like him at all, he knew, and she might question him. Normally Nicodemus would have already jumped down and started running circles around her, flogging her verbally with questions about her day and what brought her up here at this time of night. Oh, he'd probably also have something to say about her being out of the dormitory at this time of night, needless to say he'd evade her own accusations of his placement. He had his own reasons. Whether he told her about them was his choice, and since he really had no good answer to such a question, he probably wouldn't give one at all.
"What brings you up here at this time of night?" A white-blond eyebrow rose, and the boy smirked at her, some of his normal self seeping in through the cracks. He could never really stay annoyed at anybody for too long.
