Ella SmithJust once in my life I think it'd be niceElla's letters to her cousin had become less constant as they had bother agreed it would be far more obvious. One topic that Ella had yet to get to was Teddy. She often spotted the first year Gryffindor at breakfast and dinner. He was quite easy to spot with his bright hair. Yet she had never got close enough to speak. What would she say? Hi, by the way your mother wants me to watch over you. This was an automatic reject as she had promised to keep the fact that his mother was alive to herself. His mother was her newly found cousin. She smiled to herself at the irony that had the bloodsnobs that day not been talking about her, the name would never had caught in her memory or drove her to pursue it further. Meaning it was thanks to the bloodsnobs that she had somewhere to go after Hogwarts. Ella sighed her Ravenclaw robes billowing out behind her on her way to the library. She had brown straight hair that was up in a lose pony tail, lose strands had fallen out and swayed at the side of her face. She had some books she needed to return. Her eyes were looking up and around, ready to avoid people she didn’t want to bump into, it was automatic now. Life was so much easier if you managed avoid purebloods altogether. She was one of the few muggleborns in her year. This made her brave or stupid, sometimes both. She knew teddy got beaten up she has asked some of the first years in her house about him. She was about to go around a corner when she stopped, the familiar found of a fist going into someone hit her ears. She listened, stopping in her tracks. She smirked, first years slytherin, she didn't need to see their cloaks, their spoilt little high pitched voices were enough. She rounded the corner, students in her own year beat her up, and only if she was really outnumbered was she beaten up by students in the year below. She stopped however when she caught a flash of turquoise hair on the floor. She stopped there was no one else in the corridor. She saw a bag had been tipped open and its contents all over the floor, ink had splattered everywhere, including what looked like work. She then spoke up " Oh very brave three on one" her voice had a Irish accent, one that was normally found attractive as it wasn't too strong, however due to her being muggle born of course not many saw it that way. The boys looked at her and spat, 'mudblood' at her. She smirked, putting a hand on her chest she spoke, her voice dripping with deep sarcasm " oh that hurt me deep" she then pulled out her wand " Jog on" She spoke as if bored. She had learned that this tone of voice threw off younger kids, as it did with these. A flash of uncertainty went across their faces and they left in silence. Yes she was muggle born, but she was also a lot taller, and a lot older than them. When they left, she saw the boy on the floor, blood dripping from a broken nose. She sighed and crouched down. She would have preferred not to have met him like this. She set her wand on his nose " hold still for a sec" her voice light in her Irish lilt. Far more concern and emotion then the tone she had used on the slytherin boys. His nose fixed back into place. She then got to her feet and offered a hand, deal with him, then try and rescue his books and work from the ink mess later. " I am Ella, I have pretty perfected being able to fix noses" She had a light air of amusement in her voice at that fact. She eyed his clothes that were stained in blood, she frowned and waved her wand again, she did not say a word aloud and the blood vanished. It was good practice for doing spells silently. go pack your bags take up your scythe cause this world wasn't meant for us both.
they were at it again, or rather, teddy was. physically, he was completely exhausted but mentally he was ready for more. he never got tired of telling slytherins that he didn't care what they did to him, he would kick their asses. even though teddy never won a single fight in his life. in his book he did though. getting away alive was one victory to be celebrated, especially since there were a few girls in his house who knew what to do when he came back a mess, since this happened basically every day, and maybe even twice in the winter time since everyone was on edge at that time of year.
as teddy felt that familiar pang of pain on his face, his right foot slipped backwards slightly, and his head tipped back quickly, only to come forward and look the snob in the green eyes before bringing teddy's own fist to the side of his chin. to teddy's surprise, the bloodsnob fell over onto the floor. amazed, teddy blinked and raised his eyebrows in surprise, first watching the slytherin kid struggle to raise himself back up onto at least his elbows. teddy glanced at his hand to see if there was something special on it that guided him to knock that kid over with one punch but he didn't have very long to look because another pale fist was charging his way and hit him square on the nose. teddy yelled slightly and was tossed back at the wall from the fury within that hit, and his back slapped against the side of the building and then gravity threw him down on the floor, his legs not being able to keep him up anymore. there was a voice from his left, and upon hearing the high pitched sound of it, wiped the blood off of his face with his sleeve and bent his neck, holding his arm underneath his broken nose. the pain crunched at his face when he heard her footsteps nearing the four boys. out of the corner of his eye he saw the green eyed slytherin stumble to his feet as the older woman dismissed them and surveyed teddy. he felt awkward, but nothing close to embarrassed. he wanted other students to know that he wasn't afraid to fight for his dignity, whether someone had knocked some things out of his hand while he was walking, or just gave him a funny look. he was a person too, and teddy never thought he would understand why others deemed him less of a person when he was made up of all the same stuff that the purebloods were, but there were some differences, teddy noticed.
for one thing, mudbloods seemed to have hearts, didn't they?
teddy's eyes were gray that day, in contrast to the sunny sky, they almost made him look rather depressed. his eyebrows were clenched together as he kept his sleeve underneath his nose. periodically he would wipe the remaining blood from his nostrils and then use his hands to catch the blood that dripped while he switched arms, which was his usual way of healing since he didn't know how to himself. as his lifeless, yet fiery eyes flickered towards the woman, they watched her talk and listened to her words, but even though she seemed nice, teddy still flinched away as she suggested her fix up his nose. it wasn't really a flinch, more like a quick movement with a look that read "don't you dare touch me i'm hurt enough already." he could've even looked offended that she had offered to help him in the first place, but when he saw her wave her hand and watched, with his own eyes, the blood disappear of his white shirt, his expression softened and he moved back into his original position.
"uh," he started, his nose being plugged up and in pain he didn't want to say much, but the fact that he sounded nasally and funny didn't really occur to him at all. "i'm teddy and i've pretty much perfected breaking my nose." he smiled slightly and winked at ella as his, now lighter gray, eyes slid towards her. he cleared his throat and moved himself so he was more angled toward her. gingerly, he removed his sleeve from his nose and he felt his face go red, as he could feel how stupid he looked. Ella SmithJust once in my life I think it'd be niceElla remembered all too clearly her own beatings; being Muggleborn she had had it worse than the half bloods. Ella knew why he fought back; the same reason that when she was tired she sometimes retaliated, because why should they be different. We were the same yet they insisted on dividing us. It wasn't even magical ability as although Ella was not the cleverest person, she was a damn sight cleverer then most of the purebloods in her year, especially in potions. A fact that she had a feeling annoyed Professor Malfoy no end that she was in fact very good at his subject, even though she had lost count of the amount of detentions she had managed to get in. Hazel eyes flickered to the boy, he was a mess, but Ella ignored his look of protest to her action. She had been through the whole bullying thing before, she knew had she been in his position she would have acted the same way. She stood, the boy was gingerly not getting up. However his introduction made her smile softly at him, she chuckled lightly and lend down so she was crouching by him again so they were at eye level " to perfect fixing a nose, you need one to practice on" she then tapped her own with her wand that was still in her hand, winking at him. She was using it to point out that she had once perfected breaking it, well the Slytherins in her year had.
She eyed him lightly, taking in his grey eyes; she noticed how they seemed to lighten lightly from what they were when she first entered the corridor. She all about metamorphmagus, because she had studied them for her exam, but also she had in fact met his mother and had been fascinated to see how easily they had changed their appearance. She could with magic but not to the extent or ease he probably could. She smiled softly at him as he dropped his now clean sleeve away from his now fixed nose. She then heard his thanks, she nodded " No problem teddy " She then glanced to her left where his ruined work books and bag was, covered in ink. She moved to them and with a flick of her wand the ink vanished, well the excess, the books and bits of parchment were still covered in it. She moved closer to it, picking up on of the bits of parchment " This looks like potions, he must be your favourite teacher" her voice dripped with mock enthusiasm and sarcasm. She held it up; of course, she knew he would get in huge trouble if that late and in anything less then perfect condition. She frowned then pointed her wand at it. The ink vanished leaving the essay as though it had been untouched and in pristine condition. She finished what she was doing the books tucking themselves back in his newly cleaned bag and the work neatly tucking themselves in. Ella then grabbed the bag and returned to teddy offering a hand " come on can't stay in the corridor". Ella was carrying his and her own with ease. She was right however, they couldn’t stay in the corridor, and the other boys had probably gone to find elder slytherins to deal with Ella. Once he was up, she was close by him, still carrying his bag " are you hurt anywhere else? " she asked in her Irish lilt, again this genuine warm smile came from her as she tucked some loose strands of brown hair out of her eyes and behind her ears.
She didn’t know what to do, should she tell him about the fact they were distantly related. She could probably lie to make a plausible reason as to how she found out. Should she tell him though, she had promised to keep the identity of his mother a secret, but maybe she could tell him about Ella. She sighed she hated lying, she could do it, but she hated it. Sighing she made up her mind in a split decision. ” Erm will you walk with me, I have something I want to explain” She looked suddenly uncertain. She wondered how freaky it must seem to have some random elder girl, not even in your house come put to you, fix your nose and books then want to walk with you. Ella was mentally slapping herself now, how weird was she? THE COUNT: 751 COMMENT: I should sleep more, but here we go

to perfect fixing a nose, you need one to practice on teddy shrugged and raised his eyebrows up and then down, hiding his smile. he never knew that those dirty purebloods would even beat up a girl because of their blood, but i suppose it has to be a given. they are snobs, and he guessed they would do what they want, when they wanted to, just because they could. his light gray optics looking first at her hands, they seemed petite and clean, much different from teddy's, which were scarred and dirty almost all the time. that seemed to be one of the things that he liked to stare at, people's hands. some of them seemed to be long and elegant like a horse's legs when it runs, and other times they're short and stubby and remind teddy of dead and burnt tree stumps that barely stick out of the ground. teddy had an urge in his shoulder to pull away and look at his own hands, but as far as teddy could remember, they were in-between as of this stage in life. in all the pictures he'd seen, his mother hand beautiful hands, whereas remus's hands were scarred and his fingernails were short, but his fingers themselves, were long. almost absentmindedly, teddy's fingers began to bend the small amount of fingernail that he actually had, and rubbed his fingers against each other. if he did it slowly enough, he could feel his own fingerprint. teddy's mind wandering off made ella's words go through one of his ears and out the other, until, of course, she tapped his nose and a sensation blew across his sinuses that made him sneeze.
it wasn't as loud as it could've been, mostly because he held it in as best he could so the hallway didn't echo with the crude screech of his sneeze. he wiped his nose with his sleeve again, out of habit, and watched ella as she stood and walked over to toe spilled bag and ink and parchment on the floor. he laughed as her sarcasm drifted playfully toward him, and he answered her with a humorous tone; "no, that's not even mine." a smile slid itself on his face as his memory grabbed hold of the moments only minutes earlier. "i tripped the poor bastard and it crashed onto the floor. he was going kind of fast i thought he should slow down and enjoy the spring." teddy raised his eyebrows as the smile on his face turned to a smug smirk. she was impressive, this ella character. teddy thought it was nice to know someone who could scare off first years that were kicking his butt so he could get some peace once in a while. not that the peace usually lasted long but, eh, you don't live forever. teddy stood up and swaggered when ella told him, although it wasn't a direct command he did it anyway. exhaustion jumped onto his limbs and threatened to hold him down and make him sit on the floor again, which wasn't a bad idea seeing as the sun was shining directly on that spot and it was rather nice in the sunlight for a change, but but teddy's legs insisted that he stand anyway, and he placed his grubby hand on his thigh to help him up, looking like a middle aged man in doing so. with a quick glance out the window at the sky, teddy's eyes turned the shade of yellow that the sun was as it shivered itself past the clouds like his irises were a chameleon of sorts. his invitation forward was accepted with a hidden look of confusion. she was a nice girl, and teddy didn't want there to be any secrets, but if it was as bad as his stomach told him it was, then maybe a secret was a good thing.
nevertheless, teddy lightly jogged forward to stand next to his elder, and upon reaching her, he slowed his steps and waited for her to step forward before he did. "sure, shoot" shit, sorry this sucks so much ass 672 jealous guy - john lenn♥n[/blockquote]

Ella SmithJust once in my life I think it'd be niceShe remembered the shock of her cousin - teddy's mother, when she had walked into Hogsmeade to meet her, late and with black eye, and blood all over her clothes. The blood had been a mistake, she had forgotten to clean it up, but at the time, she had been unable to mend black eyes. She knew now, Tonks had taught her. She then felt a sudden pang of guilt. Ella was planning to spend her Easter break with this boy’s mother to whom he had never met, well met and can remember. However secretly and safety were the problem, Ella was 17 and could use magic outside of school, meaning should the need ever arise it would be somewhat easier to escape if she could use her own magic.
She noticed Teddy glance to her hands, she glanced at them too. Eyeing them, she had kept good care of her hands, her injuries and scars had been cleared up with magic by the school nurse in her early years, and then as she had got older she had taken better care, plus learned the spells and potions for herself. No need for the embarrassment of the hospital wing. Ella chuckled at his words about tripping up someone, she shook her head " you ask for trouble" her tone was not scolding, more amused. She smiled at him, she wasn't going to tell him he was wrong, she had done stuff like that when she was younger, Time had mellowed her down, what was not to say she stood there and took it when she was beaten, she still hit back, made comments and stuff. She was just rarely the one to start the fights anymore. She left the bag seen as it wasn't Teddy's.
Ella stood waiting for him to get up; if he was anything like her when she was younger, pride would drive her not to want help getting off the floor. However if he wanted help she would of course give it. She smiled encouragingly at him, and then once he was up stayed close, he seemed completely exhausted and she didn't trust his legs to keep him up. She normally had quite along stride; however she shortened it to match his. " We need privacy, you will see why". She noted his eyes and smiled, they were yellow now, like the sun. She looked forward and found a suitable place, she opened a door to her right, it was an empty room, looked like a study room of sorts, either way, it was empty. She gestured for teddy to go in. Once in she closed the door behind her, drew her wand flicking it at the door. Then put her wand back in her robes.
Ella sighed eyeing him then explained " Privacy, no chance of anyone bursting in on us or over hearing" She sighed then sat on the desk in ht room eyeing Teddy, then began " Ok I am completely honest, I have been looking for you, Teddy I found something out last week" She sighed, the room had two huge windows that looked over the grounds and let sunlight pour in. She glanced out them and then back at Teddy, crossing her legs as she sat on the desk eyeing him " AS you already might have guessed, I am Muggleborn, but I was tracing back my family tree to see if I was the only witch in my family" She eyed him more intensely now, her light Irish Lilt was still soft but she wanted get her intentions across " My mother's maiden name is Tonks, Her elder Brother and my uncle, is Ted Tonks, your Grandfather" She smiled weakly "which makes you my second cousin" she sat back letting the words get to him. She looked back out the window; a bird was nearby chirping out its song. Breathing slowly, she added " I thought you would want to know" She looked back at him, her Hazel eyes gleaming in the sunlight that poured into the room. She looked like her uncle; her uncle had had those same eyes only with fair hair, not Ella's brown. They also shared over similarities like jaw line. Ella remembered the photo Tonks had shown her.

even though he could see her smile at him though the corner of his eye, teddy kept his head downcast and to his shoes, watching the shadows behind his legs elongate before and after he stepped. by the sound of her tone, it felt as if teddy wouldn't like the surprise she was going to tell him, so his stomach felt empty and hollow with some kind of nervousness. he knew he shouldn't be worrying this much about something that probably wasn't half as bad as he thought it was going to be, but teddy couldn't help it. it was a habit ever since he was little, worrying, thinking the worst would happen while he was outside getting beat up. like someone would break into the little cottage where he lives and steal his grandmother away. not really likely, no one but the malfoys seem to care that much about andromeda anyway, and it looks to teddy like they'd rather kill themselves than talk about her at all. which was fine with teddy, honestly, he would rather die than let his grandmother die before him, especially if it was through no fault of her own, like organ failure of any kind. he silently groaned and turned his head upwards just in time to watch ella walk in front of him to open up the door to a vacant classroom. after she walked into it, teddy followed her almost obediently, like he was some weird kind of. teal puppy.
as teddy's shoes carried him farther into the room, he couldn't help but get the chills at how incredibly silent it was in the room. the light seemed to catch and trip on all the dust that collected on the tables since anyone was last in here. he could see the indents from silly doodles in the dust or swear words written and arrows pointed in the directions of the student's friends, probably sitting next to them or in front of them. his eyebrows pulled themselves together with curiosity, attempting to ignore the temptation to wander away from ella and look at what stupid things were written, and perhaps add a contribution of his own. ella's wand flicked out and she pointed it at the door, and teddy, still not fully paying attention, heard the small faint click of the door locking from the inside of the room. he slowly looked back and then looked forward at ella as she began to talk. it turns out, he was right. it wasn't as scary as he thought it would be. he breathed almost a sigh of relief, "oh, that's it then?" the words came out twisted with laughter, "now i thought it was going to be something awful and i'd.." teddy's words trailed off as he put his hands behind his head and stood with a slight slant, his weight more on one leg than the other. "uh, sorry..that didn't seem as mean when i heard it in my head." he smiled, but his eyes looked downward, again at his shoes before he dropped his hands back to his side. "it's.." he began, looking back up at her with light brown eyes, "it's nice to know i have someone to trust here. " his expression was honest, but rather distant, his face could've been crowded with sadness, if he wasn't giving his cousin a smile instead. teddy didn't really know why he felt like he did, it was great to know that he had someone else that he was related to rather than just being a cousin to mister 'i'm the best and i know it' malfoy. he truly was pleased to figure out that the person who had saved him moments earlier was someone he could go to if he wanted, but why did he feel so strange? ow my wrist hurts slkdfjs 631 nowhere man - the beatles[/blockquote]

Ella Smith Just once in my life I think it'd be nice
She noticed him keeping his head down, she had a feeling she was giving off the wrong vibe for her news. She didn't know how he was going to react to it. He could be disgusted, although that would be slightly hypocritical or, well she didn't know. She then realised something, Teddy's grandmother was her aunt, if only by Marriage. She wondered if they would ever meet, she doubted she knew she would have to go into hiding after she left Hogwarts with his mother. Although Ella was still wondering if she could bring herself to do that, could she hide with Tonks knowing if they were caught together Tonks would lose the freedom she had survived Azkaban for? Ella feared Azkaban above everything, and as she got older it got worse as the stories of deaths and her knowledge grew of the place.
She chuckled lightly to his reaction, ok she must have built some anti climax to it be accident. She found it highly amusing however. As he apologised she shook her head " Sorry did I build some big climax".However she noticed his eyes had changed again as he looked up, they were now brown. Then he heard his words, she nodded and smiled softly at him " Me too" She then got up and slid an arm around his shoulders " Need me just ask, Like if you need fixing up again" she tapped his nose with her finger a weak smile placed upon her lips, she could fix other stuff " even they get in trouble though if they hurt you too badly" she had awful flash back of when she was in her first year and the boys looming over her in the hospital wing threatening for her to keep to the story of falling off one of the windows. She sighed she knew it was never that simple. She eyed him then chuckled darkly " but of course you probably already know it just makes it worse second time round" She truly understood what it was like, She of course did not have the problem of turquoise hair her very average appearance made her blend in well. Brown hair, hazel eyed, simple and boring, perfect for not being seen. Ella was rather good at not being seen, not with charms and such; well she could give those ago. No she was just good at sticking to the shadows, walking silently, an art most who wished not to draw attention themselves in this place learned.
Suddenly the door knob rattled, she suddenly glanced at it and heard a cocky sounding voice say the most basic of charms to open doors. Did she look that stupid? The door of course did not open, then the all too familiar voices of the seventh year Slytherins were heard ‘Probably ran away, the scum, no way can that filth put that kind of charm on the door, they don’t teach um that’. Ella gritted her teeth, watching the door again mentally thanking Tonks for that one. She then turned back Teddy and grinned sheepishly as the footsteps faded away. ”They are so narrow minded, its beyond them to believe that I could actually outsmart them” She rolled her eyes and smiled at Teddy ” you have another six and a third years of this, I have almost done my time” She didn’t mention how fortunate he was to be related to purebloods, yes they hated him, yes they treated him like dirt, they did that to her too. But he would not have to go to Azkaban, however she was not going to trouble the mind of Teddy Lupin with her own troubles, she was here for him.
