- - - - - - - - - - - - - - venturing out into london was something that ginny had taken to recently. the purebloods no longer went anywhere near the muggle parts of it, making it safe for her to explore that part of the capital of england. she hated having to hide from most of the wizarding society simply because she had no problem with muggles or muggleborns, but would not change for all the money in the world. it was the way she had been brought up and she had too much respect for muggles and muggleborns alike to suddenly drop everything and turn into one of them. the people who deemed it right to treat anyone not of pure blood like scum.
the former gryffindor left her dingy, first floor, small flat in the middle of muggle london and stepped onto the pavement below. immediately she was met with a rush of muggles, hurrying on their way to work. merlin, she hadn't realised it was the morning rush hour, everyone hurrying to get to work. ginny swore that the clock in her living room had said quarter to twelve when she had left, only minutes before. frowning, she walked down the street until she met the main street, red hair flowing behind her. from this even busier street, she could see a nearby church steeple, and the clock face that was on it. it read ten to nine. no wonder the streets were packed; it was three hours earlier than gin had thought.
she really needed to adjust that clock when she got back home later. for now, however, she took a lazy stroll through the streets, not caring where she was going. there was no rush for her to get back - what did she have to get back for? a husband or boyfriend's arrival back from a hectic day at work? huh, she wished. harry potter was a figure that still lingered in her mind, despite it being many years since he died, and she could not let him go. he was her first ( and to this date ) only love: flings and one night stands were becoming a common occurrence in ginny's life, but she didn't actually feel anything for those men. she just needed the company and the knowledge men were still attracted to her and her looks had not faded over the years. ginny was not vain, but rather needed to know she still had the good looks that she had been known for back at hogwarts.
gin had arrived at a street in london she had yet to explore. it was darker, quieter and had an eerie atmosphere that was shouting to her to turn back around and run. however, like normal she liked a bit of adventure and adrenaline pumping through her system, and this street looked like it could just that. walking forward, but more cautiously than before, she peered into the shop windows. the first one was obviously a clothes store: mannequins dominated the window space, dressed in what could only be described as expensive wizards robes. oh merlin, she had somehow wandered into a wizarding street. in her head, she was swearing violently, many of the words she had learnt from fred and george. however, she wasn't about to chicken out of having a look down this street.
it would be good, just for a while, to be reconnected to the wizarding world even if it wasn't what it used to be. it might bring back happy memories of visiting diagon alley as a child, or else as a hogwarts student. ginny looked into the second shop - cauldrons and potions ingredients. potions had never been her strongest subject at school, probably due to her hatred for professor snape, but some of those ingredients in there looked pretty dangerous. the shop looked empty, but she couldn't be sure: the cauldron in the shop window was emitting a thick, constant stream of smoke, a colour green that suggested to ginny it was poisonous. lovely.

It wasn't night time, so one would think it strange for a Vampire to be traveling about. However, so long as he kept to floo powder and out of sunlight, he'd be fine. Not to mention, he'd had a spell applied to him that allowed some sunlight to hit him and not cause any damage. It was like an incredibly strong sun block ... he had to laugh at the idea, a shake of the head in order as well. Evander's body was clothed in simple attire, though very fashionable. His coven was known for being both wealthy and full of rather vain individuals. He was definitely one of them.
"Thank you, sir." He said, flashing his over-sized canines at the man and receiving a rather pale, frightened look in return. It was always rather amusing, seeing people react to his vampirism. To him, it was daily life: there was nothing frightening about it. Evander couldn't say he didn't understand, though, while he didn't sympathize. If he were faced with a creature that could be his ultimate destruction, by eating him, he'd probably become visibly frightened as well. Most were scared of Vampires, thinking them killing machines with no emotion, whom had little to no regard for the sanctity of human life.
Little did they know, it was normally quite the opposite.
Some Vampires went as far as to envy humans for their lives; simple and constantly changing, without long term plans or long term enemies. Humans eventually died and traveled to another world where they could be at peace with themselves and everybody else. Vampires could have no such thing happen to them; there was nothing to hold their soul together once their bodies died, and so they just ceased to exist once they were gone. It was a sad reality, but it was a reality.
Turning from the register, having purchased a blood lollipop from the store, he went to enjoy it by the cauldrons. It was strange, being able to buy a Blood flavored Lolli-pop in a potions store, but it seemed that now a days all the stores carried candies in order to please the younger crowds- they had finally caught up to the muggles idea that giving a young child candy could soothe them and entice them to wait until mommy and daddy were done shopping. Unwrapping it, he stuck it in his mouth, letting the white stick pop out from his lips.
Hands on his hips, he smelled her before she showed her face. He could hear her blood pumping in her veins. It was of no matter to the Vampire, though; he'd already fed and her blood wasn't so enticing to him. He smiled at her through the door when she stopped, en eyebrow raised. It was an obvious invitation for her to join him.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - ginny had been wrong; there was someone in the shop. he had obviously moved from its depths to by the window, presumably to look out at the passers-by. directly looking at him, she wasn't shocked or embarrassed when she met his gaze. she didn't look away either; for her, that was a sign of a coward, something that she definitely was not. her face remained blank as she waited for the man to do something, readying herself mentally in case he came flying out of the shop and chased her down the street for being a weasley and being in a wizarding street. however, all he did was smile at her.
she couldn't help but mirror his emotions, although her smile was a little weaker than his. she was still a little cautious of what he might do. however, gin noticed that his smile was rather inviting, as though he was telling her to come and join him. over the years, she had acquired the skill of being quite a good body-language reader, even though she couldn't see this man properly, only hazily because of the cauldrons inside the shop. ginny couldn't help but chuckle as she saw that he had a lollipop in his mouth. the image would have been right if the man had been about two foot shorter and ten years old, but instead this was a fully grown man with a lollipop. her smile widened into a grin as she chuckled, her blue eyes squinting slightly due to the action.
shaking her head as though telling herself to 'get a grip', ginny walked up to the shop door and opened it gracefully, the bell above the door ringing merrily and announcing her arrival. the door shut and now she could see the man clearer, even though the shop was quite gloomy. he was beautiful, if that was the right word for it. ginny had always made the presumption that men could never be beautiful, because only woman could be called that. men were meant to be handsome, or good-looking, but those words didn't suit the man in front of her. she smiled at him a little bolder, eyes still adjusting to the change of light in the shop. the shopkeeper seriously needed to buy a few more lights. he obviously had no idea who she was if he had silently invited her to join him. every pureblood who knew of ginny's family knew that they were as bad as the impurities themselves, simply because they liked muggles. either this man was oblivious to this, or he did not care.
either way, ginny was already starting to like him, and they hadn't said one word to each other yet. hmm, well, she would change all that. despite there still being a small part of her ( obviously the sensible part ) warning her to be careful of the man, she smiled at him once again and gestured to the stick in his mouth, the obvious end of a lollipop. "you know, most men can't pull off the child-like look, but somehow you manage to" how could she manage to come out with lines like that? gah, she was getting worse at this whole 'meeting new people' thing, probably due to lack of practise.

His blood-red lips curved into a smile that did nothing to hide his amusement. One of his fine eyebrows curved upward as he noted her looking shocked at his reaction. Vampires were different than humans; they considered themselves above the petty games Mortals played. Some sided with Voldemort, but it was only to satisfy their lust for change momentarily. Yes, he knew of her heritage, but he cared not what she was. All he knew was that this could prove to be quite the interesting conversation, what with her having been in hiding all this time. She must have been quite out of news in the Wizarding world.
His posture changed from relaxed and almost taunting to slightly stiffer and much more inviting; it wasn't stiff in a hostile way, but more along the lines of showing that he wanted her there and would straighten up in her presence instead of slouching. He smiled at her, eyes glinting as his elongated fangs showed. They weren't monstrously huge, but they were enough to make most stammer and pale at the mere site of them. However, he thought she might be different- after all, she was a Weasly, and they were known for bravery. Most of the Wizards these days might have put them down as idiots and cowards, but anybody willing to fight against Voldemort had to be quite brave.
Sliding the bright red lolli from between his lips, he appraised her slightly, waited for her reaction. A Vampire would only be sucking on a blood flavored lolli, after all, and the bright redness of it would be a sure give away to it. "Well, thank you Miss Weasly. I can't say I've heard that compliment before, though." He said it in a smooth whisper- if silk had a sound, his voice would have been it.
Sliding the lollipop back into his mouth, he crunched down on it, chewing and swallowing the pieces of candy. Glancing over her shoulder, he saw a trashcan, and tossed the stick into it, with perfect aim. Turning his attention back to her, knowing she would have figured out easily exactly what he was by then. All the clues were there, and if he last remembered, the Weaslys weren't idiots either. They were a famous brood, they were, in their own way. They'd been around as long as he had, even though to most that wasn't very long.
"What brings you here, love?" He spoke in that same tone he had before, moving forward slightly. If anything, he was known as a romantic; a Vampire that charmed and courted every woman he came across. "It's dangerous for somebody like you ... " He trailed off, eyebrow raised. He had half a mind to bring her to a tavern of some sort where they could really talk. It would have to be wizarding, of course, but she'd be fine if she changed her hair colour- and if she were with him. He wasn't about to let a woman in his company be carried off to her death, torture, or imprisonment for some idiot reason a Mortal came up with.
Of course, he wouldn't be able to win a fight or anything against a bunch of ministry officials, but he could make them nervous and buy her time so she could slip away. Most of the ministry had no idea how to deal with Vampires- they were all Purebloods and thus didn't associate with his kind. So, when confronted by a rather aggravated one, they backed down out of both fear and not knowing how, exactly, they were supposed to act.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - it was turning out that this innocent trip into london was going to become very interesting. ginny continued to watch him as he changed his posture, her eyes now fully adjusted to the light in the shop. as he smiled, she couldn't help but notice his white and very long teeth. merlin, the only people that had teeth like that were... vampires? ginny hadn't had a lot of experience with that species, having only met one in her lifetime - and that had been when she had run into one on the night of slughorn's party back in her fifth year at hogwarts. however, she knew quite a bit about them from stories her brothers used to tell her to try and scare her. beautiful although pale in appearance, fast and unbelievably strong, and of course, a diet of blood. which came hand in hand with elongated fangs.
any rational, sensible person would have run a mile in ginny's situation right now, but she was intrigued. if he really was a vampire - and with those size canine teeth, it really did look like it - then he was amazing. he was different, but in a good way. and he was dangerous, which ginny seemed to always attract, like a magnet. anything with the word danger written all over it always seemed to catch her attention. gin couldn't help but smile back at him, wanting him to confirm her thoughts that he was a vampire. however, she didn't need to verbally ask him because as though he had read her mind, he produced the lollipop from his mouth, and it was red. blood-colour red, and it was painfully obvious that it was blood-flavoured.
ginny had personally thought beforehand that she had quite a nice, easy-to-listen-to voice, but it was nothing compared to this man vampire's. "i like being unique, mr...?", her voice trailing off at the end as she realised 'mr vampire' wasn't a name she should call him, and she didn't know his real name. it was like him calling her miss witch. it shocked her that he knew her name and yet did nothing about it. gin had made the assumption that the vampires sided with voldemort and would be working for him, rounding all people like her up. obviously not. "you know my name." it wasn't a question, but a statement. her tone gave away a hint of her surprise at him. "aren't you bothered by it?"
her eyes, sharp from many years of quidditch playing, didn't miss a trick as he threw the stick into the bin with an accuracy that was inhuman. that had definitely confirmed her suspicions about him being a vampires - any human would have failed to land the stick in the trash with the rest of the rubbish. ginny stood her ground as he moved forward. despite the situation, she wasn't going to lose any of her bravery and suddenly turn into a coward. he was a tad intimidating though, standing so tall over her. "believe it or not, it wasn't my intention to come here. i just happened across the place. it's nice to get back into the wizarding world for a while, though."
there was no point in being suspious of him anymore - he had had plenty of time to arrest her, or whatever the ministry did to blood traitors these days, especially with his super speed. "wherever i go, danger follows. i've decided there's no point in trying to hide from it." she wasn't sure if that was a reference to the man before her or not. he was indeed very dangerous, but hadn't attacked her yet and that was a good thing. it obviously meant he had no need for human blood right at that moment. ginny was still very keen on keeping herself alive, even though her life wasn't half as good as it used to be.

He raised an eyebrow at her obvious inquiry. "Evander, my lady. Evander Charles Cross." He couldn't help but let a smile drift across his face, like slow moving fog across porcelain. Cross was such a funny name for a Vampire, considering that it was a belief among muggles that they were barred from holy ground. In all reality, they weren't; it was just extremely depressing and almost enough to anger a Vampire when they looked upon crosses and things- it reminded them that their souls were, in fact, going to dissolve once they left their bodies. He inclined his head slightly to the side, hair falling in that direction as he studied her.
"Bothered by your name?" Again, that slow, almost lazy, grin spread split his lips. "Unlike my brethren, my Coven has nothing to do with this silly little war you witches and wizards have in play. It's none of my concern. Not all Vampires sided with Voldemort, just as not all Purebloods did ... " He raised an eyebrow at her, hoping to get the point across. Of course, far more of a percentage of Purebloods had joined in the fight against those with impure blood, than the Vampires ... But it was enough to get the point across, anyways. He didn't think he needed to explain to her the details of it all- now that would probably bore the young lady to death, and he wouldn't have that.
He nodded thoughtfully, brow furrowed slightly as he studied her. Just stumbled across it, eh? She was a strange one, indeed. Not many Wizards or Witches could claim to just stumbling across shopping centers in the middle of London and be so believable. Cocking an eyebrow at last, accepting her words, and smiled again. It was that same charming smile he used on all women- he was known for it, really, in his coven. The Charmer, they called him. Well, some of them anyway. The others called him a manipulative, strategic bastard ... but that was another story.
His grin grew. He sense her slight hesitation, but it seemed that and no more. She wasn't frightened of him. Well, this is a first. He mused mentally, giving her another once over. So the Weaslys really did live up to their reputation.
Her next sentence caught his attention and held it. Danger followed her? Was this in reference to he, himself? Or just in general? He decided it was a mixture of both and left it at that.
"That it does, Miss Weasly, that it does. Now, how would you like to take a stroll with ... danger?" He asked, "I think I'd like to sit and talk with you, though this hardly seems the place to do it in. Change your hair colour, and stick close to me, and nobody will look twice at you. They'll be too busy goggling at the Vampire." He grinned again, wondering weather she'd take him up on it or not. He hoped she would; she seemed the type he'd like to spend his time talking to.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - ginny liked the way he talked, as though from a different era. he most probably was, she realised. it was quite surreal to think that this man before her could be several hundred years old, yet look around her age. "it's nice to meet you evander." she also liked it when he smiled like that, but she had to learn to get a grip of herself. it was refreshing to hear that he didn't care about her name and he thought their war was silly. it was also nice to also get an outsiders opinion on it. of course, there wouldn't be any war if voldemort treated everyone the same, or even just gone and died in a hole somewhere. but he done neither of those things, and people like gin had to fight back for justice and righteousness.
"i see" ginny announced rather thoughtfully at his words about some vampires and purebloods being alike in that they chose not to support voldemort. "but instead of fighting against him, you decided to take a neutral standing" again, it wasn't a question but a statement, showing her understanding of his words.
there was no doubt in her mind; she knew she wanted to go with mr. cross. he intrigued her, and as well as that she was probably falling for his charms. she had to stay strong, ginny reminded herself. he was built to be this way, to lure his victims in ( although at this moment, she wasn't a potential victim ). "i'd really like to take a stroll with danger" she grinned at him, no hesitation in her voice. her eyes glittered and for a moment she looked like the old, teenaged ginny that hadn't a care in the world. she chuckled quietly at his last words, goggling the vampire, and that he could refer to himself in such an offhand way. yet here she was, perfectly comfortable in the presence of someone who could kill her in a split second, had he wanted to.
ah, merlin, she had to change her hair colour? the reason why she didn't change her hair colour on a daily basis was because she was proud of the vivid red mane that lay on top of her head. it was a symbol of who she was and who she supported as well. for as long as she could remember, ginny had always thought that the order's colours should be reds ( probably because so many of its members had been former gryffindors ), whereas the death eaters should be greens or greys ( slytherin colours, it makes sense ). in normal circumstances, she would have refused point blank to change her hair colour, but this wasn't normal. for one, she was in the company of a vampire, and two, there were presumably voldemort-supporting pureblood freaks outside. evander was the sensibler of the two and knew that she wouldn't be safe as long as she had red hair.
sighing, she murmured to him, "you should feel lucky, i don't do this for just anyone" before she had finished the sentence, ginny had her wand out of her pocket and was pointing it at her head. in a wave of the stick and some quiet latin words, her hair seemed to glow a dull red colour before it turned chocolate brown. the new hue made the freckles across the bridge of her nose stand out even more, she could tell, and all she could do was shake her head in a 'i can't believe you made me do that' way to evander, and exit the shop before him. it was nice to step out of the gloomy potions shop once again and into the fresh air, which she breathed in a deep lungful of.
ginny turned back to evander, as though waiting for him to show her where he wanted to go, and asked him, "so do you mind people 'goggling at the vampire'? or do you just find it all irritating?"

He smiled graciously at her comment, before giving his own greeting. "Ah, dear lady, the pleasure is all mine." He said, in almost a theatrical voice, and dipped into a slight bow. His hand held hers, lips pressed against the top of it for only a moment, before he was standing straight up again and had let go of her hand. A small smile crept along his lips. His eyes held no emotion, though; it was almost strange to look in them; like staring out into forever. In an ageless being, eyes were always a strange thing.
It was a strange thing, to see a Vampire bow and kiss a woman's hand. However, when he was confronted with a woman who was not afraid of him, he was presented the perfect chance to show that he really was a gentleman. He'd been raised in an era where women were to be treated with kindness and respect, and he still held all of his old beliefs.
He nodded his head, though hesitation was obvious even in his placid, Vampire face. Was he walking straight into a trap of hers? After a moment, debating weather to dig himself deeper or not, he spoke. "Yes, that's exactly it. I am neutral in it- I see no point in putting myself in danger for human affairs. You see, it's nothing personal, I have ... friends ... that are human. However, I like to think that Vampires and Humans keep their wars and fights separated from each other for the most part. It makes it more fair, instead of just a bloody free for all." Each word was chosen carefully, and though he was sure it was not the most beautiful explanation, it was something.
"That isn't to say, however," He continued for a moment "That the right person couldn't change my standing in it."
He couldn't help but feel amused at her saying she'd love to take a walk with danger. This was getting quite interesting, her retorts and eagerness only adding to it. He gave his scarf a slight tug, something he did out of habit. Hearing her tell him he should feel lucky, his eyebrows raised. "Lucky? Miss Weasly, I'm ... honored." It came with a short flow of chuckles, his head shaking gently as he watched her. Tapping a finger on the bridge of her nose, he mumbled "You may wish to get rid of those, as well; they stand out like a sore thumb. However, that's your choice, if you wish to look a bit silly or not."
Evander reached forward, holding onto her shoulder gently before saying in that same, silky voice "We can't go that way- the Sunlight directly on me would be far too much. I would die," He cocked his head gently to the side, eyebrows furrowing as he continued "Even now I'm in a little bit of pain, though nothing that I can't handle. Spells and staying in the shadows of a dark shop only do so much for a Vampire who likes to wander in the daytime."
Turning, he motioned for her to follow him. Stepping into the fireplace, he grabbed a handful of floo powder. "Shall we?" He muttered, making sure she was beside him before throwing the powder down and calling out where they needed to go. While Vampires didn't have very strong magic, it was enough to allow him to floo where he wanted.
Stepping out of the fireplace, and turning to help Ginny out in a gentleman like fashion, Evander spoke. "Nobody here will bother you- they all know me quite well, and know that my temper is short for any who would betray a guest of mine. Just stick close." Walking forward, now sure of himself and almost surrounded by a thick, invisible layer of authority, Evander summoned up the first person who worked their he could spot. "Please, seat us. A more secluded booth in the back, perhaps?" He asked, before quickly adding in "And only one menu, thank you." They were lead to a back booth, in the shadows and away from the windows, though all of the windows seemed to have black blinds on them.
Sitting down, he leaned forward on the table and looked at her with a raised eyebrow. "So, Miss Weasly, if you don't mind, how is it that you came across a flat in London? Or, excuse me, I assume you are living in some sort of flat?"

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - she wasn't quite sure how to react as he kissed her hand. if this was just a man, she wouldn't have given it second thoughts. but this was a vampire, and because ginny hadn't had a lot of experience with them, she was quite taken aback at evander's touch. she had thought that he would not want to touch her because of his whole diet of blood, but he didn't seem to care. so, he was fed after all. good, because gin didn't feel like dying today, thanks. her smile mirrored his as he straightened up again, and she realised that he was very much a gentleman, despite being a vampire. perhaps it was usual for him appear, as well as he could, a normal man.
hesitation was something she had yet to see in evander's face, yet here it was now. she frowned lightly, wondering what she had said to cause this emotion. his next words, as smooth and harmonious as they sounded, still did but help answer the question. still, she listened to him intently, knowing that the words made sense and he had made the right choice not to get involved. the way both sides ( but mainly voldemorts' ) used other creatures as tools in the war was something else she hated about it all. they seemed to ignore the fact these creatures could have feelings, and should be given a choice in doing things. merlin, she was starting to sound like hermione about the house elves.
ginny wasn't sure if his next quip about feeling honoured was sarcastic or not, so she rose her slender eyebrows at him and grinned. she could see the brown hair lying over her shoulders now: it irritated her that it wasn't bright red as usual, and it made her feel as though she was out of place. the grin quickly wiped off her face as he touched her nose and pointed out her freckles. there wasn't many things that made ginny, brimming with confidence, be conscious of, but men noticing her freckles was one of them. for some reason, she saw them as a sign that she was just child who needed help and support, which she didn't. gin liked her independence and could manage perfectly well on her own.
her eyes narrowed, bottom lip jutting out, but she wasn't angry at evander but at herself. stupid freckles. ginny sighed and waved her wand again, and her face became blemish free. some might ask why she didn't do this on a daily basis if she hated her freckles so much, but like her red hair, they were part of who she was, whether she liked it or not. they showed gin was a weasley through and through. "i think, just for today, i'll avoid looking silly, thanks" she told him light-heartedly, the scowl having disappeared a few seconds ago. the grasp on her shoulder didn't shock her as much as it should have - he had already touched her twice. what did surprise gin was the strength of his hold on her. she could tell he was trying to be gentle, but ginny was unable to move her shoulder whilst he held it.
"oh, i'm sorry!" she exclaimed, mentally kicking herself for forgetting vampires couldn't go out in sunlight. "i don't want you to die on me" she announced jokily, turning around as soon as he let go of her shoulder. "well, that should teach you for being out in the daytime, mr cross." once again, her tone was jokey, and she grinned at him. "not that i mind, of course." she added, wanting to make sure he didn't take her advice and disappear off to sleep or whatever normal vampires did in the daytime. he was interesting and different, even as a human, and ginny liked that. she followed him into the fireplace, and watched as he got the floo powder. "of course" ginny answered him, without hesitation even though she had no idea where they were going to go. she trusted him enough already to let him take her to a safe place. or maybe it she was seeking adventure and didn't care where he took her.
the dizzying spinning soon came to a stop and she let evander help her out of the fireplace, murmuring a quick "thanks" to him. he had a short temper? ginny wouldn't have thought so, judging by the way he acted, and his impeccable gentleman manners. she did as he told her to, staying close by her side. if it had been anyone else, she would've done what she liked, but evander seemed, once again, to know what he was talking about. she saw the people staring at them as they walked forward, trying to find a member of staff there. from what she could gather, it was rather like a restaurant, although a very dark one. ginny smiled as he only asked for one menu, looking at him in a knowledgeable way.
they were led to quieter part of the building, just as evander had asked, and she swiftly sat down opposite evander on the comfy seat. "call me ginny" she quickly told him as he called her by her surname. "i am living in a flat, but how did you know?" she turned her thoughts to how she got her flat. sure, it was small and rundown, but it was a shelter for ginny, where she could get away from the wizarding world, if only for a while. "one of my dad's... acquaintances used to own it, and sold it to me for a discounted price. it's nothing special" gin shrugged and glanced around, although there wasn't much to look at. they were fairly far away from everyone else in a secluded part of the restaurant place. "what is this place evander?" she asked him, curious as to how he seemed to be admired, feared and well-known there.
"and why are we sitting so far away from everyone else?" her tone wasn't accusing, but instead was curious, portraying her emotions. gin could guess that he just didn't want to be overheard, but she just wanted to make sure her assumptions were right. you never know, he might suddenly become ravenous and start feeding on her blood.

Leaning forward gently, Evander put his elbows on the table and weaved his fingers together. Resting his chin atop his fingers, the Vampire stared directly into the woman's eyes. At this distance, he could hear and practically feel the blood in her veins; a mighty river of life. Nodding gently, he tilted his head only slightly to the left- if you hadn't been closely watching him, you wouldn't have even noticed.
A menu was brought to the table in a few moments, and Evander gestured to it. "Get whatever you want, Ginny; the Coven has you covered." He said in a nonchalant voice. The Coven paid for nearly all of his expenses, as it did for every Vampire in it's charge. The only problem was that the Vampires turned over whatever money they had to keep the Coven running. It worked quite well in Evander's opinion, though.
He smiled gently, arching an eyebrow upwards as she inquired as to how he knew what he did. "For one thing, you need to lay low. This would mean that you wouldn't be living in a mansion, I don't think, or any place that would attract attention. Besides, you're young. Almost no human your age, I don't think, can afford an actual house." His voice showed he was simply laying out fact- or what he considered the facts. He meant no offense to her, but if offense bloomed in her, seeded by what he'd said, then so be it. He wouldn't hold back an answer he didn't think a person would like. Besides, he was used to being around Vampires, and they were usually much harder to offend, in some ways, than humans.
He turned his head to look at a couple a few tables in back of them, one of them obviously a Vampire and the other a slightly timid looking female. Watching the other Vampire as he stood and led the female out into the fireplace, leaving with her.
"It's a restaurant specially designed for Vampires ... usually when they wish to entertain those who they feed from, or their shadows." He mumbled, suddenly looking a tad bit uncomfortable. "Of course, I don't feed off of you, but it was the only place I could think of, you see ... You don't mind, do you?" He turned his answer into a question, looking at her for approval. He felt bad, bringing her here without asking her first if she would mind, but it seemed the only choice at the time besides his own house, and that would have been disastrous. He could just see his brother's reaction, especially if they had company.
"We're sitting far away from everybody else in the off chance somebody does recognize you. Not to mention, I don't wish to advertise the fact that I'm not really here to feed, that would cause suspicion. I'm not known to talk quite openly with other races, and since you're human ... " He trailed off, allowing her to come to her own conclusion.
"Have you been in contact at all with the Wizarding world? Do you know anything?" He asked, sounding genuinely interested. It wasn't often, after all, that he met a human such as herself.
